GIZORAMA Swings by the Pheonix Comicon

Comic book conventions are some of the coolest events to go to because they’re truly a place where one can feel at home without being judged. I mean, what other place can someone dress head to toe like a video game character without someone snickering behind their back?

So, as a nerd aficionado myself, I was quite enthused upon learning I was getting the opportunity to brave the desert heat for a few hours of fun at the Phoenix Comicon. While not as grandiose in scale as arguably the most popular comic convention, the San Diego Comic Convention, the Phoenix Comicon is surprisingly big, with plenty of vendors and activities to get lost in all day.

I was seriously impressed with the overall excellence of the convention. Not only were there cosplayers with very high quality costumes, but also the amount of original comic book creators (artists and writers) available to meet and chat with was a bit staggering. I walked around for about three hours and didn’t even come close to seeing all that the convention had to offer.

There were also several high profile guests available to meet and greet, with my personal favorites being several Walking Dead alumni (notably Michael Rooker and Chandler Riggs) and Tara Strong, aka the voice of Timmy Turner, Dil Pickles, Ben Tennyson, Batgirl, Rikku, Harley Quinn, Juliet Starling… and pretty much every awesome voice in TV and video games ever made.

Check out some video game related cosplay below and sound off in the comments section with your thoughts.

Can you name each outfit?

Christian Miller

Christian is a lover of the three R's: reading, writing, and RPG's. He lives in a historic town in northern Utah where he loves playing video games and trying humorously to become an author. When he isn't spending time with his family or writing, you can probably find him battling Darkspawn, trying to catch em all, or attempting to get a headshot on a Chimera.
