Deep Silver, publisher of the Dead Island sequel, have parted ways with the games developer, Yager. Deep Silver shared the following statement on Tuesday.
With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve. After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner Yager.
The announcement explains why the sequel was conspicuously absent from E3 2015. There is no word on why this decision was made or where the Dead Island 2 development will go next, as Deep Silver owns the IP, but it is highly unlikely that the game will see a 2016 release as was announced in April. The original Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide were both developed by Techland, but that studio has since moved onto its own zombie IP, releasing Dying Light in January.
