Did You Install Linux on Your PS3? You Can Claim Your Cash Now

October 13, 2016 by

Do you have old receipts? No? You still might be able to claim something.

Did you use Linux on one of the first “fat” models of PlayStation 3? Can you prove it? Depending on your answer, you might be entitled to $55 or maybe just $9.

Originally promised as a feature of the PlayStation 3, Sony removed the ability to install Linux in 2010, leading to a class action lawsuit. It’s taken a while, but for those affected you might be able to hit the (relatively small) jackpot. Depending on how much you can prove will determine how much you’re eligible for. You can go here to fill out a claim.

And hey, if you do manage to get $55, you can use it towards buying another year’s worth of PlayStation Plus. It’s a win-win, really. You’ll still have to pay $5 out of pocket, but that’s not that bad, right?
