After focusing on everything from Harry Potter to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, developer Traveller’s Tales is going back to its roots in the LEGO video game franchise with a return to the saga that started the video game phenomenon: Star Wars. In an exclusive reveal by gaming magazine Game Informer, it was announced that the developer would be giving the video game treatment to the universally-acclaimed latest installment of the space opera, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Surprisingly, however, the game will feature more than just Episode VII, as it also has side content which bridges the gap between Episode VI and Episode VII and “gives fans background information on how some of those events came into being.”
According to Game Informer, two new additions to the classic LEGO formula will be introduced. There’s a new “multibuild system” that gives players a choice in brick-building sections, and new cover-based sections that focus on blaster action.
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be available June 28, 2016 for the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Wii U, and 3DS.
