South Park’s latest gaming adventure

October 26, 2016 by

We can all look forward to some typically foul-mouthed gaming fun in the future as it looks like there’s a new South Park game in the works.

The comically titled South Park: The Fractured but Whole game will be coming to PS4, Xbox One and Windows in early 2017. And it looks to continue the animated series’ gaming legacy that’s already extended to the realms of racing games, tower defence titles and even online slots games.

So what can we expected from The Fractured but Whole? Well it looks to follow on in a similar vein to the South Park: The Stick of Truth game that focused on RPG adventures but had enough combat action to keep avid gamers occupied.

But it’s obviously outrageous humour that’s the central part to any South Park franchise. And whilst The Stick of Truth had plenty of Nazi motifs, abortion imagery and even some anal probing that led to it being censored in many countries, it’s yet to be revealed how The Fractured but Whole will shock gaming audiences.

Interestingly the developers, Ubisoft, have delayed the South Park game until 2017 as they wanted to make sure that the game is good enough to match previous South Park releases.

In the past South Park fans have enjoyed gaming highlights such South Park Rally in 2000 and 2009’s South Park Let’s Go Tower Defence Play that really ramped up the foul-mouthed humour.

And Kenny and the South Park gang have even made an appearance at the casino thanks to Mr Smith’s gaming site that provides a South Park themed slots game that’s brash enough to charm fans of the TV show, yet lucrative enough to keep any gambler happy.

But if that wasn’t enough, it seems that South Park’s creators are also keen to embrace our virtual futures. This is because the previews of the The Fractured but Whole were accompanied by a Nosulus Rift device which sought to ape the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset by shooting farts into the player’s nostrils as they explored the game.

Obviously such an outlandish piece of kit might have a few issues in becoming a mass market gadget, but it shows that South Park is certainly willing to try out concepts that few others are willing to explore.

So whether it’s firing farts into your own face, playing games with Nazi zombies, or just winning some animated slot games, it seems that South Park have definitely got it covered!
