Just one day after debuting on Netflix the Castlevania animated series has been renewed for a second season.

The original season was received well by many with the main knock on it being it’s length. Netflix left fans wanting more after the show premiered with only four episodes. That issue looks to be addressed as season two will double the content and bring eight episodes to the table.

Castlevania the animated series keeps the general story of the classic NES games. We still have the Belmonts looking to rid the world of Dracula, but this story is not directly pulled from the video games. Although, fans of the games will definitely notice some callbacks such as the iconic whip used by the protagonist. The series tells an original story penned by comic book author, Warren Ellis, who was previously attached to another cancelled Castlevania project. Series producer, Adi Shankar, stated that the animated series would not shy away from mature content and that stands true after release. This visualization of the story definitely has its fair share of blood and gore.

There is no word yet on the release of season 2, but it will still be written by Ellis and animated by Frederator Studios. Shankar is also producing an Assassin’s Creed series, which likely will be released before we see season 2 of Castlevania. Have you watched the show yet?
