New World, Release Window Announced for Kingdom Hearts III

During the D23 Expo this weekend, Disney announced both a new world and a release window for Kingdom Hearts III.

In a video shown off during the expo, we learned that Toy Story has been added to the short list of confirmed worlds coming to the first mainline Kingdom Hearts title in nearly twelve years.  The video introduced characters such as Woody, Buzz, Rex, and many more companions from the Pixar classic that will be joining Sora, Donald, and Goofy in their next adventure.

Toy Story joins a revamped Hercules, Tangled, and Big Hero 6 as locations that are confirmed for Kingdom Hearts III. On top of the reveal of Toy Story, the video trailer revealed a release window for 2018.  The game was first announced over four years ago during E3 2013.

If you can’t wait until next year (at the earliest, presumably) to get your fix of Kingdom Hearts, don’t worry.  If you own a PlayStation 4, you can get your hands on EVERY Kingdom Hearts title ever released.

This past January, developer Square Enix released Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, before porting over the PlayStation 3 remasters of the other games in the franchise for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix back in March.  So there’s more than enough of Sora’s journey for you to revisit before Kingdom Hearts III launches next year.
