Is the Nintendo Switch Going to Play GameCube Games?

According to a post on Eurogamer, three separate sources have claimed that the Nintendo Switch will support GameCube games through its virtual console, the digital storefront that has previously only offered N64, NES, and SNES classics for Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS owners. Currently it has been reported through the post that there are only three games that are ready to go on the Switch platform. They are Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion, and Super Smash Bros. Melee. Although Eurogamer also says Animal Crossing could come to the Switch as well.

In addition to this, the post also claims that a more unified online system is coming, one that would allow purchases to be brought over to the Switch so users wouldn’t have to buy the same games again. This has been a common complaint amongst Nintendo fans.

Nintendo has a conference planned 0n January 13th. During which, full details about the console’s price, specs, and games line-up should be revealed.
